Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states to meet Rahul Gandhi today to urge against the resignation decision 

All Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states will meet Rahul Gandhi on Monday urging him to take back his decision to resign from the post of the party President.

The meeting between Rahul Gandhi and Chief Ministere comes in the backdrop of continuing suspense over Gandhi's future role in the party.

Gandhi, who became the party president in 2017, offered to step down from his post at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on May 25, taking moral responsibility for Congress' dismal performance in the 17th general elections.

According to a report by PTI, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy will be present at the meeting with Mr Gandhi today afternoon.

However, his offer of resignation was unanimously rejected by the CWC.

So far, several top leaders have met Gandhi and urged him to continue to lead the party.

Despite senior members making serious attempts to convince the 49-year-old party chief to rethink his decision, he remains unfazed.

The Congress won 52 seats in the recent general elections, which is just eight more than 2014 in the outgoing Lok Sabha. 

Meanwhile, Congress workers staged a hunger strike outside party Headquarters in Delhi and urged Gandhi scion to take back his resignation.
