After reports of China upgrading its air defence along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), a report said it has equipped one its Army branch stationed at the border with US-style integrated individual soldier combat system to prepare for "informatised warfare".

A Chinese Army branch Special Operations Forces from the Western Theatre Command has been equipped with QTS-11 system in their training, a report in China Central Television (CCTV) said.

Military experts say the QTS-11 system is similar to the US army as it contains soldier combat system, including detection and communications, Song Zhongping, a Chinese military expert told state-run Global Times newspaper.

"The individual soldier combat system is only part of the digitalised army, something countries are attempting to do. Developing the integrated individual soldier combat system adapts to informatized warfare in the future," Song said.

China's sky wolf commandos have reportedly been equipped with QTS-11 system in their training.

The commandos belong to the western theatre command which belong to 3,488 km-long Line of Actual Control (LAC) with India.

"QTS-11 systems of the US and China are similar but not comparable. The system's capability depends on how it is used," Song said.

According to Global Times, China has been rapidly upgrading its air defence as photographs showed a J-10 and J-11 fighter jets conducting aerial combat training exercises on February 13, two days before Spring Festival and it cited Chinese military expert and TV commentator Song Zhongping as saying it was significant for China to strengthen control of airspace over the mountainous region.
