Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi passed away on Friday, his son announced today.

The former Congress leader had served as Chhattisgarh's first chief minister from 2000 to 2003.

Jogi,74, had suffered a heart attack earlier in the month and was on ventilator support in a Raipur hospital in Chhattisgarh. 

He had expelled by Congress in 2016 for six years due to anti-party activities along with his son Amit. The former Chhattisgarh CM then founded the Janta Congress Chhattisgarh.
