Twenty four years after the 1993 bombing of RSS' Chennai headquarters, the CBI on Friday arrested Mushtaq Ahmed, one of the main accused of the bomb blast

Ahmad, who was on a runaway for the past 24 years, had procured the explosive material for assembling the bomb and provided shelter to the other accused.

In 2007, a TADA court in Chennai in 2007 convicted 11 persons and awarded life terms to three. The main accused, however, could not be arrested and was on a runaway. The special court later acquitted four persons for lack of evidence against them.

A reward of Rs 10 lakh was announced for providing credible information about Ahmed.

Ahmed was arrested from the outskirts of Chennai, CBI spokesperson Abhishek Dayal said.
