CBSE papers' leak: Delhi High Court hears PIL for court-monitored probe

The Delhi High Court today heard a Public Interest Litigation for a court-monitored probe into the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) paper leak case.

The high court issued notice to the CBSE, Delhi Police and the HRD ministry on a PIL which stated that the class 10 Maths paper be preferably held earlier and also seeking a court-monitored probe into the paper leak.

The next date of hearing is March 16.

The plea was mentioned before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar which agreed to hear it today.

The petition, moved by NGO Social Jurist, has sought that the class 10 Maths exam be held in April, rather than July as proposed by the authorities.

Apart from that, the petition filed by advocate Ashok Agarwal has sought that liberal marks be awarded to the students in the Maths and Economics re-examination. 

The Supreme Court will hear pleas relating to the CBSE re-examination on April 4. The top court agreed to hear on Wednesday 15-year-old Rohan Mathew's challenge to the CBSE decision to hold the re-examination of the class 10 Maths paper. Rohan has argued that re-examination is a violation of the fundamental right of students who appear for the exam.

The papers of the Economics exam of class 12, held on March 26 and Maths exam of class 10, held on March 28 were leaked on social media hours before the examination. 

Two teachers and one tutor, who were arrested for their alleged role in leaking the question paper of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations, were sent to two-day police custody by a Delhi court on April 1.
