BSF refuses to exchange sweets with Pakistan Rangers on Republic Day

The Border Security Force on Friday broke away with the traditional and customary exchange of sweets on the occasion of Republic Day with the Pakistan Rangers.

The split from the customary practice took place after Pakistan conducted continuous ceasefire violation in India.

Speaking on the matter DG BSF KK Sharma said "Atmosphere was such that no exchange of sweets took place with Pakistan Rangers. I think in the coming time old tradition of exchanging sweets will be revived soon said DG BSF KK Sharma".

He also said " Ceasefire violations was the main issue of discussion during flag meeting with Pakistan. Both sides agreed that ceasefire violations should be reduced. BSF never initiates ceasefire violations. 

A 30 minutes flag meeting was held between BSF and Pakistan Rangers along the International border where India recorded its strong disapproval for the series of ceasefire violations administered by Pakistan in India. India firmly said in the meeting " such provocative acts will not be tolerated". 

The meeting was held between five member BSF team with a group of 10 Pakistan Rangers. 

During the last 10 days, the ceasefire violations claimed the lives of seven civilians and six security personnel. 

The last such meeting was conducted in September. 

The forces of the two countries did not exchange sweets on the occasion of Independence day also.
