​Late Major P Purushottam, who was posted as Public Relations Officer (Defence) along with five of his comrades, bravely fought terrorists who had launched a ‘fidayeen’ attack on his office on the evening of November 3, 1999.

In a solemn and poignant ceremony today at the Public Relations Office, Badami Bagh (BB) Cantonment in Srinagar, all ranks of the Public Relations Office paid rich tributes to Late Major P Purushottam and five brave soldiers - Sub Brahm Dass, Hav PK Maharana, Sep Choudhary Ramji Bhai, Sep Md Razaul Haque and Sep C Radhakrishnan, who attained martyrdom in a ‘fidayeen’ attack on this day in 1999.
 
​Late Major P Purushottam, who was posted as Public Relations Officer (Defence) along with five of his comrades, bravely fought terrorists who had launched a ‘fidayeen’ attack on his office on the evening of November 3, 1999. Having been engaged in a hand to hand fight with the terrorists, he and his colleagues made the supreme sacrifice of their lives while trying to save media persons.

​A Bharat Bhushan Babu, ADG (M&C), in his message, paid rich tributes to the brave soldiers who had made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. He said that we will always draw inspiration from the heroic deeds of the martyrs and keep ‘Nation First’ in all endeavours.
