Bollywood celebrities react to Papon controversy, express fury
Follow UsSinger Papon has landed in trouble after a complaint was filed against him for allegedly harassing a minor contestant of a reality TV show.
A video has gone viral in which Papon is seen celebrating Holi with the contestants of “Voice India Kids” and planting a kiss on the girl’s face. Papon is one of the judges on the show along with fellow singers Shaan and Himmesh Reshammiya.
Calling himself an “extremely affectionate and expressive” person, Papon claimed that “both of our families are being destroyed forever” because of the controversy surrounding the matter.
Papon, who had earlier said that he was being "victimised" for no fault of his as he would "never commit an indecent act", took to Twitter to make the announcement that he is stepping down as judge from the show.
Reacting to the incident, many prominent Bollywood celebrities took to Twitter to condemn the singer’s behaviour.
Disgusting! Shameful!Perverse! This man Papon should be arrested ! The girls parents succumbing to pressure ! The explanations given are ridiculous! Haven’t felt such anger and shame to see this happen and some on tv debates actually defending the act !

Whatever the situation,accidental,unintentional,affection,love, though it is sad the #papon controversy happened. But will be an eye opener and lesson for all to not getting carried away,and not crossing a line which can be seen as inappropriate.

If a father doesn’t stand against his daughter’s abuse by #Papon in d name of “fatherly love”, then the father also should be tried for being an accomplice to wrong touch.

While talking to the media Farha Khan said "I know Papon he is good guy. But there is no doubt that when I saw the video it made me feel uncomfortable. I think he didn't mean to do it but if it was my daughter I would not like it. I think people should not touch other people's children, just to show affection."
