Sambit Patra is a trained surgeon and has an active social media presence, particularly on Twitter, where he has 4.4 lakh followers.

In recent years, Sambit Patra has become visible as one of the BJP's most outspoken spokespersons on TV news debates. 
 
Last week,&nbsp;Congress leader and spokesperson Sanjay Jha also said that he has been tested positive for COVID-19 and will be under home quarantine for over a week as he is asymptomatic.
