Biplab Deb's words of wisdom: List of absurd statements by Tripura CM

Tripura's chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has again courted controversy, this time by saying that he wants every family to rear ducks because “when ducks swim in water, the oxygen level automatically increases in the water body”. 

Deb said that the government was planning to distribute 50,000 ducklings to villagers whose homes are near water bodies.

Biplab Deb is a politician with no previous experience to hold a constitutional office has stoked an array of controversies through his speeches after being elected as the Tripura CM. 

Here is the list of all his controversial statements: 

Internet during Mahabharata days: 

"India has been using internet for ages. In Mahabharata, Sanjay was blind but he narrated what was happening in the battlefield to Dhritarashtra anyway. This was due to the internet and technology. The satellite also existed during that period."

‘Only civil engineers suited for civil services’

He had made this faux pas while addressing a Civil Services Day function in State capital Agartala.

"After pursuing mechanical engineering one should not go for Civil Services. Instead, civil engineers should join Civil Services as they have the knowledge and experience to help build administration and society."

Diana Hayden not worthy of Miss World crown

"We see women as goddess Laxmi, Saraswati. Aishwarya Rai represents the Indian women. She became the Miss World and that's all right. But I do not understand the beauty of Diana Hayden."

Keep a cow or open a paan shop, instead of running after govt jobs

"The youth here runs after political parties for several years to get a govt job and wastes the vital time of their life, had the same youth instead of running after parties set up a paan shop he would have by now had a bank balance of Rs 5 lakhs."
