Bhopal gang-rape: Four accused sentenced to life imprisonment

The four men accused of raping a 19-year-old woman in Bhopal in October were sentenced to life imprisonment by a fast track court on Saturday.

The additional district and session judge Savita Dube reportedly gave the verdict. 

The woman, a UPSC aspirant and daughter of a police couple, was raped about 200 meters from the Habibganj government railway police (GRP) station. Officials said that the crime scene fell in the MP Nagar police station limits.

The 19-year-old also claimed that the four men tried to strangle her to death after raping her and after thinking that she is dead, they left.

The victim soon after returned home and told her parents. An FIR had been lodged following the incident and the investigation was completed within 15 days.
