Rafale deal: Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence tells Congress to behave responsibly
Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence Ltd has sent a cease and desist notice to the Congress, telling them to behave responsibly while speaking about the Rafale deal or face legal action.
"... freedom of expression and speech should not be mistaken as a licence to behave irresponsibly and make false, frivolous, misleading and distorted statement to suit your political interests," the notice said.
The notice was sent to Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill. The notice also mentioned several other Congress names including Randeep Surjewala, Ashok Chavan, Sanjay Nirupam, Anugrah Narayan Singh, Oommen Chandy, Shaktisinh Goel, Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Sunil Kumar Jhakar, and Priyanka Chaturvedi as having "been indulging in making incorrect, false, frivolous, baseless, misleading, derogatory and defamatory statements in the press and electronic media".
"It appears that a vilification campaign is being carried out by the leaders of your party against our clients at the instance of corporate rivals to dilberately besmirch our clients' good name and reputation and undermine and prejudicially affect the commercial interest of the large family of shareholders for petty personal and political gains," the notice said.

Mr. Anil Ambani, I reiterate, my aeroplane making skills (as demonstrated in Lok Sabha) are better than yours. pic.twitter.com/xFlID5ET6f
The Congress has been attacking the Narendra Modi-led government over the Rafale deal. The charge has been spearheaded by Congress President Rahul Gandhi.
The Congress says the NDA government is paying more for the aircraft than what had originally been brokered by the UPA. (The Congress is implying that kickbacks have been paid.)
The Congress is also asking why Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd was junked as Dassault's (the French company that makes the Rafale fighter jet) India partner? The current India partner, Anil Ambani's Reliance Defence Ltd, has absolutely no experience in the aerospace industry.
Reliance Defence replaced the public sector HAL as Dassault's India partner only a few days after it was incorporated.
