Amarnath Yatra to begin on June 28

The 60-day-long annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas will commence on 28th June 2018, the shrine board said on Tuesday. 

Jammu and Kashmir Governor and chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board N N Vohra, presided over a meeting of the board to particularly discuss the implementation of the directions recently passed by NGT regarding Amarnath Yatra and to decide the further course of action. 

Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has decided that 60 days long Amarnath Yatra would commence on 28th June 2018 and conclude on 26th August 2018. 

Situated in a narrow gorge at the farther end of Lidder Valley, Amarnath shrine stands at 3,888 metres, 46 km from Pahalgam and 14 km from Baltal.

Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has reviewed the 2018 Yatra Action Plan, including arrangements for medical care, installation of railings and of garbage in a scientific manner.
