All non-swadeshi products removed from army canteens on MHA orders

All the non-swadeshi products have been removed from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) canteens, according to the orders by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The decision was taken to promote the local manufacturers and industries.
Following the order, over 1,000 products manufactured by firms like Dabur, VIP industries, Eureka Forbes, Jaquar, HUL (foods), Nestle India will not be sold at CAPF canteens anymore from Monday.
The order said the rejection or de-listing of non-swadeshi goods is done by the canteen board "on the sole basis of information submitted by the firms".
These canteens serve products to almost 50 lakh family members of about 10 lakh security personnel, and do a business of nearly Rs 2,800 crore annually.
