Alimuddin murder case: 11 cow vigilantes gets life sentence

Special fast track of Ramgarh declared life imprisonment for the accused of an Alimuddin murder case.

11 accused that has been imprisoned for life reportedly includes a local BJP leader.

Convicts have been identified as Santosh Singh, Deepak Mishra, Vicky Saw, Sikandar Ram, Uttam Ram, Vikram Prasad, Raju Kumar, Rohit Thakur, Chottu Verma, Kapil Thakur and local BJP leader Nityanand Mahto. 

Each convict has also been asked to give fine of 2,000 rupees. 

The court is yet to take a decision on another accused who according to reports is a minor.

The court judgement was welcomed by the deceased's family. Media reports quoted his wife Mariam Khatun saying that the accused deserved nothing less. 

In 2017 a Muslim trader name Alumuddin Ansari was lynched by the mob of over 100 people while transporting beef in his vehicle.

After the lynching, his cart was set on fire by the mob.

This is the first case of cow vigilantism in the country in which the accused were convicted and punished by the court.
