Air quality reaches 'hazardous' level in Delhi's Anand Vihar

The air quality in the national capital is presently in the 'hazardous' category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, the overall Air Quality Index was recorded at 449 at Anand Vihar this morning.

PM 10 level at 446 and PM 2.5 level at 449, in 'severe' and 'hazardous' categories respectively on Air Quality Index (AQI), at Anand Vihar.

Experts have predicted that for the next three days, the air quality will continue to remain in the 'Very Poor' and 'hazardous' category.

An AQI between 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 is satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor and 401-500 is severe/hazardous.

According to a recent Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) analysis, as many as 70 Indian cities across India, including New Delhi, are reeling under severe air pollution.

Authorities have attributed the dip in air quality to unfavourable weather conditions such as low wind speed.

"The stubble related impact continue to remain nominal due to slow transport height winds," it said.

The air quality in the national capital deteriorated severely on November 8, a day after Diwali and continued to remain in the 'severe' category before showing a slight improvement on Saturday. Since then it has been oscillating between very poor and severe.
