AIMWPLB president writes to PM Modi seeking amendments in Triple Talaq Bill
The President of All India Muslim Women's Personal Law Board (AIMWPLB) has written to Prime Minister Modi seeking amendments in the Triple Talaq Bill.
Shaista Amber, president of the board said that though they supported the bill, they want an amendment in it.
She said "urged PM to do changes to present bill as it will lead to conflict & disunity in family instead of resolution.We support the bill but there should be amendment to it".

One million Indian Muslims, mostly women, sign petition against triple talaq
A silent protest against the bill was conducted by Muslim Women on Monday in Sikar, Rajasthan.
Marching from Idgah Chowk to the district collectorate the women held placards demanding the withdrawal of the bill.

After the protest, a delegation of Muslim women gave a representation to additional district collector Jaiprakash Chaudhary, addressed to President and PM.
A similar protest by Muslim women was staged on Sunday in Pune where the women protested saying that they did not want any change to the Muslim Personal law.

Triple talaq over Whatsapp, SMS just another way of communicating message: AIMPLB member
The members of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board have already expressed their disapproval against the bill calling it defective and destructive for families and women.
The Triple Talaq Bill was cleared in the Parliament in December 2017.
Under the proposed law, instant divorce will be a non-bailable offence with a punishment of three years jail for guilty husbands.
The proposed law would only be applicable to instant triple talaq or 'talaq-e-biddat' and it would give power to the victim to approach a magistrate seeking "subsistence allowance" for herself and minor children.
The practice of triple talaq allows Muslim men to divorce their wives instantly by saying 'talaq' three consecutive times (either directly, via social media or even a text
message).
