AgustaWestland case: Christian Michel gets 15 minutes a week to speak to family, lawyers

A Special CBI Court on Monday allowed alleged AgustaWestland middleman Christian Michel to speak with his family and lawyers for 15-minutes in a week.
On January 11, the Indian government granted British officials the consular access to meet Christian Michel.
The High Commission said that its staff have visited Michel to check his welfare.
"Our staff are supporting a British man who is detained in India, and have visited him to check his welfare,” British High Commission in India said.

Earlier, ED counsel told Delhi's Patiala court that Michel had spoken about the "son of the Italian lady" and how he is going to become the “next prime minister of the country.''
Michel was arrested in the UAE and extradited to India on December 4.

The ED, in its charge sheet filed against Michel in June 2016, had alleged that he had received 30 million euros (about Rs 225 crore) from AgustaWestland, news agency PTI reported.
The CBI, in its charge sheet, has alleged an estimated loss of 398.21 million euros (about Rs 2,666 crore) to the exchequer in the deal that was signed on February 8, 2010, for the supply of VVIP choppers worth 556.262 million euros.
