After Ola, Uber also calls off strike in Mumbai

A day after Ola called off their strike, another can service company Uber drivers also withdrew strike in Mumbai on Wednesday.

The decision on calling off the strike was taken by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) transport union after having talking with Uber officials in Ghatkopar, Mumbai in presence of senior inspector Vyankat Patil.

MNS head said some of the demands that were discussed received a positive response from Uber officials.

The demands include reinstating the blacklisted drivers who did not have a criminal record.

Other demands regarding earnings and incentives will be discussed with all India's head and will be acknowledged in 15 days.

The cab drivers are on strike in various states of the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune over the restructuring of payment structure.

MNS called off Ola drivers' strike on Wednesday after a meeting with Ola officials but Uber continued their strike by Thursday.

Sanjay Naik of Maharashtra Navnirman Vahatuk Sena said: "Ola and Uber had given big assurances to the drivers, but today they are unable to cover their costs. They have invested Rs 5-7 lakh, and were expecting to make Rs 1.5 lakh a month but are unable to even make half of this, owing to the mismanagement by these companies."

The union has also demanded driver agreements and cab stickers of Uber to be in Marathi language.
