The Aam Aadmi Party has decided to nominate Raghuram Rajan, the former Reserve Bank Governor, to the Rajya Sabha, reports said.

Reports indicate that his name is being considered for one of the three Rajya Sabha seats from Delhi.

His name was discussed at a party meeting which included AAP chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

A letter has also been sent to him. However, the letter is still awaiting a reply from the ex-RBI chief.

It is also speculated that the party is looking for candidates other than politicians for the three Rajya Sabha openings.

Rajan's three-year term as RBI Governor ended on September 4, 2016.

He currently teaches at the University of Chicago.
