51 women below 50 have entered Sabarimala temple: Kerala to Supreme Court

Kerala government on Friday informed the Supreme Court that 51 women devotees between the age group of 10 and 50 entered Sabarimala temple.
Senior advocate Vijay Hansaria, appearing for the Kerala government, said till now 51 female devotees between the age group of 10 and 50 have entered the shrine.

The Supreme Court also directed the Kerala Police to provide round-the-clock security to two women who had entered the Sabarimala temple.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and justices L N Rao and Dinesh Maheshwari was hearing the petitions of 42-year-old Bindu, a college lecturer and CPI(ML) activist from Kozhikode district's Koyilandy, and Kanakadurga, 44, a civil supplies department employee from Angadipuram in Malappuram, who had entered the Sabarimala shrine on January 2, according to PTI.
Sabarimala temple has been in the thick of things since the apex court allowed the women of the menstrual age group to enter the temple and offer prayers thus ending age-old tradition.
Some women who tried to enter the temple faced a huge backlash from the protestors who were opposed to women of menstrual age entering the temple and returned without success while some others between the age group of 10 and 50 managed to enter the temple and offered prayers.
