The Delhi High Court today issued notices to all those accused in the 2G spectrum case including former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi. The move came on the basis of an appeal filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI),

The court has also demanded to maintain status quo in relation to properties attached by the ED.

"The court while issuing notice on interim application granted status quo order with regard to attached property, this means the property remains with ED." a representative noted.

The CBI filed an appeal on Tuesday while the ED had moved the court on Monday against the acquittal of all the accused.

A Raja has said the move was anticipated as it was a statutory right to appeal. "Deprived party can go for an appeal, that is a statutory right. Suppose, if I am convicted am I not entitled to appeal? That is quite natural, nothing special. This was 100% anticipated," Raja noted.

A special CBI court acquitted all key accused, including A Raja, in the 2G spectrum allocation case last year. There was a lack of "prosecutable evidence", the court noted.

The case will now be heard next on May 25.
