Prayagraj Special Court on Tuesday pronounced its verdict on 2005 Ayodhya terror attack case. Four convicts have been sentenced to life imprisonment, whereas one person has been acquitted, news agency ANI reported.

The five accused are Irrfan, Mohammad Shakeel, Mohammad Naseem, Mohammad Aziz, Asif Iqbal and Farookh.
The verdict came after 14 years of the attack which took place on July 5, 2005, at Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid complex in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The site was attacked by armed terrorists.
The attackers, who posed as pilgrims, drove an explosives-laden jeep which exploded near the boundary of the disputed site. The terrorists, who belonged to a Pakistan-based terror outfit, were suspected to have entered India through Nepal. In an hour-long encounter, the security forces managed to gun down five terrorists.
Four suspects were arrested in August 2005. Another, Irrfan Khan, was arrested the same month.
