At least 29 people have been killed by severe weather from the storms sweeping Italy, official said.

Storm damage crippled parts of Italy on Monday with thousands of roads damaged and coastlines battered after strong winds and heavy rains battered the country over the last week.

In Rapallo, northern Italy, fire brigade drone footage showed yachts worth hundreds of thousands of euro (dollars) submerged in water at the harbour.

Other yachts were seen washed up on their sides on shore. The coastal road from the town was seen to be completely unusable with huge chunks of tarmac that had given way and plummeted into the sea below.
