Netflix acquired 'Black Mirror', a science-fiction drama, after its second season. 

Netflix’s hit show ‘Black Mirror’ announced its fifth season on Tuesday.

The new season will feature three episodes, starring Anthony Mackie, Miley Cyrus, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Topher Grace, Damson Idris, Andrew Scott, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, Angourie Rice, Madison Davenport and Ludi Lin.

Black Mirror became a part of Netflix’s offerings from the second season when the streaming platform acquired it. The platform has aired two seasons of the show, along with a special interactive episode titled ‘Bandersnatch’.  

As for the new season, it promises to be a show with more thought-provoking stories that’ll continue to change how we perceive technology, future, our world and other things. 

The singer Miley Cyrus will reportedly play a performer who ‘appears to have undergone a transformation’ in order to reach a higher level of fame, according to Variety. The episode featuring Andrew Scott will see him in some sort of hostage situation while in the episode starring Anthony Mackie of the fame ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from ‘Aquaman’ will have them tackling themes of family and love. 

The announcement does not reveal who will direct the new episodes. The previous episodes have been helmed by the likes of Joe Wright, David Slade and Jodie Foster, among others.
