Story highlights

No, it's not the Oscar he won for his role in 'The Revenant'.

Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio will have to surrender an Oscar. No, not the one he won for his role in ‘The Revenant’ but another in his possession.

Leonardo has one more Oscar apart from the one he won -- which initially belonged to Marlon Brando.

According to a report published in New York Times, Leonardo got the said Oscar -- that Marlon Brando won for 1954’s ‘On the Waterfront’-- from Malaysian financier Jho Low.

Jho is currently being investigated for fraud. Among other things (read gifts) that Leonardo had to surrender including Pablo Picasso and Jean-Michel Basquiat artworks, he also has to give away the Oscar. The said Oscar went missing from Marlon’s home and was bought for $600,000 (Rs 4.3 crore) by Jho years later.

According to the report, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has the right to buy back the Oscar once the investigations are completed for $1.

Meanwhile, Leonardo will be next seen in Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, following which he will work on director Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’.
