"Stop making films where you glorify sexist behaviour, misogyny & violence against women," Mohapatra wrote in response to Vanga Reddy's tweet.

Director Sandeep Vanga Reddy, who has made films like 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Kabir Singh', has been slammed by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane and singer Sona Mohapatra over his recent tweet. Reddy had tweeted about the recent alleged rape and murder of Hyderabad doctor that has the entire country outraging.

Demanding harsher punishment for the rapists, Reddy had tweeted, "FEAR is the only factor which can change things radically in a society and FEAR should be the new rule. Brutal sentence will set an example. Now every girl in the country needs a firm guarantee.I request @warangalpolice to come into action."

Reddy was criticised for his tweet by both Motwane and Mohapatra. Motwane slammed the director and wrote, "Will that FEAR stop them from slapping her?”

For the uninitiated, 'Kabir Singh'was criticised by many for the glorifying toxic masculinity in the film. One scene had Shahid Kapoor slapping his girlfriend played by Kiara Advani. Reddy, who also wrote the film, had received criticism when he tried to defend the scene as an 'act of love'.

Singer Sona Mohapatra, in fact, asked Reddy to make films more responsibly. "Would also help if you did your job better. Stop making films where you glorify sexist behaviour, misogyny & violence against women. Films like #KabirSingh aka #ArjunReddy where you ride on male toxicity for commercial gain. Maybe use your ‘virtue signalling’ in your work?" the singer had tweeted on Sunday in response to Reddy's tweet.

Many other celebrities have also spoken out against the brutal gangrape and murder of a 25-year-old veterinary doctor in Hyderabad.
