Sonakshi Sinha denies cheating charge, says cancelled Delhi event due to non-payment  

After a case was filed against actor Sonakshi Sinha and four others for allegedly not performing at an event in Delhi despite accepting payment, the Bollywood actor in a statement denied the charges and said that she had to cancel the event as the organiser refused to make the payments. 

According to news agency ANI, a complaint was filed against the actor after she failed to perform in a show on September 30 after accepting a payment of Rs 37 lakh.

However, the actor in a statement denied the charges.

Sinha said she was approached to attend an event in Delhi. However, despite repeated reminders, the organiser failed to make the payments, she contended.

The organisers also did not send return tickets for the actor and her team, despite knowing that she had a shoot the next morning, the statement added. Several attempts were made to contact the organiser, however, they remained incommunicado, she claimed.  

The actor said due to a lack of commitment by the organiser, she and her team were left with no choice but to return home from Mumbai airport.

The actor also accused the organisers of using the media to manipulated facts. ''If the organiser doesn't stop at this, Sonakshi and her team will be forced to take a legal course of action to set this straight,'' the statement added. 

Meanwhile, ANI quoting Moradabad DSP Gajraj Singh reported that an FIR has been lodged against the 'Dabangg' star and three others on charges of cheating.

Investigation in the case is underway, he was quoted as saying by ANI.
