They possibly couldn't have found a better person to recreate a cult song like 'Urvashi'. The 1990's hit number will soon get a modern-spin and will feature Shahid Kapoor in the music video.

Fans can recall that Shahid, in fact made his foray into the world of glamour by featuring in a music video for Aryans in 1999. The actor will now feature in a special music video for the new version of 'Urvashi' which has been reprised by Yo Yo Honey Singh for T-Series. The video will also feature Kiara Advani.

The original song was part of Tamil film 'Kadhalan' which released in 1994. Composed by AR Rahman, the song was later re-recorded for the Hindi speaking audience. The film starred Prabhudeva and Naghma- both of whom became superstars post the success of the film.

The new version has been written, composed and sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh. The video is currently being shot by director Gifty in Mumbai, reports a daily.

“We’ve changed the lyrics, but the hook line remains the same. The song, however, doesn’t showcase a love story but a new-age relationship between Shahid and Kiara. Even the choreography is contemporary. We are shooting on a club set in Film City. We also filmed at a parking lot on Sunday to give the video an underground kind of a feel,” said choreographer Sanjay Shetty to the daily.

An excited Kiara Advani states that this her tribute to dance legend Prabhudeva. "I know the pressure one goes through when a classic song is recreated. There will be comparisons. This could be my ode to Prabhu sir, I am a huge fan,” the actress was quoted as saying.

Here is the original song.

Shahid is known to be a good dancer so Kiara stated that she is nervous about matching steps with him.

While it is difficult to replicate the original song, it will be interesting to see what new element Shahid brings to the song.
