Story highlights

Selena is now back with a bang as she is seen interacting with press, is back on social media although she posts less.

It’s never easy being famous or so Selena Gomez’s life story proves as she opens up about her struggle with weight and being body shamed.

In a recent interview with Raquelle Stevens for an episode of Giving Back Generation, Selena revealed how it “messed her up” and she took some time to come to terms with it.

Selena underwent surgery for kidney issues, she suffered from depression and dealt with lupus for a couple of years when she decided to stay away from social media and was also not seen much in public. The last couple of years, she gave herself time to recuperate both mentally and physically as she also went through a heartbreak after she broke up with former partner Justin Bieber.

On the body issues, Selena was heard saying, "I experienced (body shaming) with my weight fluctuation for the first time. I have lupus and deal with kidney issues and high blood pressure, so I deal with a lot of health issues, and for me that's when I really started noticing more of the body image stuff."

On a happy note, she added, "I'm very happy with living my life and being present. Because that's it. Similar to me posting a photo and walking away; for me that's it. I will do a red carpet, I will do whatever; I don't need to see it; I participated; I felt wonderful and that's where the extent of it is. I don't care to expose myself to everyone and hear what they have to say."

Selena is now back with a bang as she is seen interacting with press, is back on social media although she posts less. She has also released music and infact her single ‘Lose You To Love Me’ has become no 1 on Billboard list.
