Some suggested that it was because of Ruby suffering severe physical injuries while on shoot of season 1 but sources point that those were not the reasons for her quitting the show.

In a shocking turn of events, actress Ruby Rose who played the leading role in CW’s drama series ‘Batwoman’ has left the Warner Bros. TV drama after one season. The show has, however, been renewed for season 2 which means that the makers will have to recast for the leading part.

In a statement, Ruby Rose said, “I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season. This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and in Los Angeles.”

“I am beyond appreciative to Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Caroline Dries for not only giving me this incredible opportunity, but for welcoming me into the DC universe they have so beautifully created. Thank you Peter Roth and Mark Pedowitz and the teams at Warner Bros. and The CW who put so much into the show and always believed in me. Thank you to everyone who made season one a success – I am truly grateful.”

Some suggested that it was because of Ruby suffering severe physical injuries while on shoot of season 1 but sources point that those were not the reasons for her quitting the show.

For the unversed, Ruby suffered stunt injuries during the filming of season 1 which left her facing paralysis and needing emergency surgery.

Shot in Vancouver, ‘Batwoman’ produced 20 episodes of its 22-episode Season 1, cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, with the makeshift season finale airing this last Sunday.

The show is one-of-its kind as Batwoman Ruby Rose came out as gay for the first time as a superhero on a show. Rose, who plays Batman’s cousin, Kat Kane aka Batwoman in season 1, told the world that she’s a lesbian crimefighter. The episode aptly titled as 'How Queer Everything Is Today', was written by showrunner Caroline Dries and has Rose's character opening up about her sexuality- even though it may affect her secret identity as Batwoman.
