Story highlights

Riddhima is married to an industrialist based out of Delhi and she had to rush in with the authorities to get permission to travel all the way from Delhi to Mumbai.

It’s one thing to lose a family member and to mourn their loss but it’s quite another when it becomes next to impossible to even see them for the last time before they are laid to rest forever.

Actor Rishi Kapoor who died at the age of 67 today in Mumbai sent shock waves across the country. His daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni is finding it even more difficult to deal with this as she now has permission to fly from Delhi to Mumbai, to attend her father's last rites.

Riddhima is married to an industrialist based out of Delhi and she had to rush in with the authorities to get permission to travel all the way from Delhi to Mumbai. Reportedly, she first approached the Delhi Police to get her travel sanctioned. She and husband had also tried in the Home Ministry to get permission to fly to Mumbai.

As reported by a website, the Delhi Police said, "She sought permission late at night. We had it within minutes,” citing how they have, on previous occasions, given such permissions.

Since Delhi is 1400 km far and her father's cremation is scheduled for today evening, it would be nearly impossible for her to reach on time. The Home Ministry has now granted her the permission to fly to Mumbai.

She is expected to reach Mumbai by 6 PM today.

India is currently under strict lockdown owing to coronavirus scare.
