Ranveer Singh's 'Simmba' in trouble over film title's copyright infringement

Ranveer Singh’s next film ‘Simmba’ faces trouble as a beverage company has filed an infringement case against the Bollywood movie. 
 
The company known as Sona Beverages which endorses products in the name of Simba has filed an infringement suit against the makers for using the name Simba. In its notice, it has allegedly mentioned that the film’s title infringes the copyright of the word Simba, which is used by the Chhattisgarh based company to sell their products including beer and also non-alcoholic drinks.
 
In the notice, they have also mentioned that they sell merchandise like apparels, playing cards under the same name since 2015. 
 
The case is currently being heard at the Delhi High Court.

Director of the film, Rohit Shetty, has to file his response to the plea filed by Sona Beverages Co. Ltd. Justice Pratibha M Singh heard the case recently and has reportedly decided to explore the possibility of an arrangement. As per the order that was passed on November 2, according to recent reports, if the production Rohit Shetty Picturez fails to respond to the notice, the matter will be further heard on December 4.
 
Meanwhile, on another note, Ranveer Singh tied the knot with his ladylove Deepika Padukone today in Italy. They wed in Konkani style and will have another ceremony tomorrow. 
 
As for the film, ‘Simmba’ is slated to release on December 28 and also stars Sara Ali Khan and Sonu Sood.
