As the people in the film stay blindfolded, it started an online trend #BirdBoxChallenge where fans try to enact some banal routine work while keeping themselves blindfolded.

After a massive success of Netflix film ‘Bird Box’ starring Sandra Bullock, the OTT platform has now issued a warning to its fans.

The film features Bullock as a woman who takes care of two children, one adopted and one her own while dealing with a threat in an apocalyptic world. The film’s central theme is that for people to survive, they have to close their eyes and not look at what haunts them.

As the people in the film stay blindfolded, it started an online trend #BirdBoxChallenge where fans try to enact some banal routine work while keeping themselves blindfolded. This, in real life, has led to some accidents worldwide with many getting injured.

Netflix has in response to this, tweeted an advisory, asking them to dissuade from doing this as it is harmful. Netflix wrote: “Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”
