#MetGalaChallenge: Netizens recreate their favourite celeb looks; Lady Gaga & Rihanna are clear winners

This is seriously the time of virtual challenges as people have time on their hands amid pandemic considering all countries around the world are observing lockdowns. 

Owing to COVID-19 outbreak, many film festivals, shoots and fashion events have gotten cancelled or postponed until further notice. One of the many is annually held Met Gala event that will not take place this year. Heartbroken over the news and no fashion inspiration to take from the red carpet this year, people are taking to Twitter and other social media platforms to share their rendition of popular Met Gala looks. 

Jeff Johnson recreated Jared Leto's doppelganger look from last year's Met Gala. She shared the post and wrote, "When I saw the challenge, I thought why not give it a chance? I've always loved the fashion of the Met Gala and watched the red carpet broadcast wherever possible and reviewed the look with friends the day after. I chose this look because Jared Leto's effortless, gender-fluid style has always been inspirational. It took me a couple hours to pull together once I had materials and safety-pinned on the crystal garland. I loved every minute of it!"

New York based Sanja Nestorovic paid homage to the jewel-encrusted, pope-inspired John Galliano ensemble Rihanna wore to the opening of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination" in 2018. She said, "Rihanna's dress probably took about five hours. Everything I make is recyclable. No fabric. No sewing. Paper, garbage bags and scotch tape.”

She also recreated looks of Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Kylie Jenner and a dozen other celebs. 

There is Shay who recreated Lady Gaga’s iconic pin and black multiple outfits as she had her father hold the umbrella in one of the pictures. 

Celebrity Mindy Kaling recreated Jared Leto’s look as she shared: “Recreating one of my favorite Met Gala looks ever with the help of a tarp, some Christmas lights and packing tape. I think Alessandro Michele would approve. Your turn, post your look with #MetGalaChallenge by 5/3 and @voguemagazine will choose select looks to feature on social.”

Adam Rippon recreated Rihanna’s look and wrote, “My official submission for the #MetGalaChallenge”

There were others that recreated looks that were seen on Zendaya, Gigi Hadid, Kim Kardashian, Marc Jacobs and several others.
