MAMI drops AIB and Rajat Kapoor's films from the festival

With #Metoo movement gaining momentum by the day and a lot of celebrities coming into the limelight as accused, organisers at Mumbai Film Festival have decided to drop AIB and Rajat Kapoor's films from the festival. 

Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamaba- the founders of AIB, stepped down from their posts on Monday after allegations surfaced accusing Bhat of hiring a serial sexual offender like Utsav Chakraborty.

Khamba was accused by a woman of sexual misconduct which the comedian has denied.

Rajat Kapoor was also accused of the same by three women in three varied incidents. 

In order to support the ongoing #MeToo movement, the two movies-'Chintu ka Birthday ' by AIB and 'Kadak' by Rajat Kapoor, have been banned from film festival by MAMI.

After journalist Sandhya Menon posted screenshots of the conversations with women accusing Kapoor of misconduct, the filmmaker-actor issued an apology on Twitter saying,''All my life I have tried to be a decent man, to do the right thing. If however, I have slipped and through my actions or words caused pain or hurt or trauma to absolutely anybody, please accept my apology."

MAMI film festival is to begin from October 21, 2018, to November 1st, 2018.
