Story highlights

Earlier, ' Bala' was to release on November 22, but was preponed to 15th and then 8th and now its scheduled to release on November 7- a day ahead of 'Ujda Chaman'.

A legal battle has ensued between the makers of 'Bala' and 'Ujda Chaman'. A few days back, the trailer of Ayushmann Khurrana starrer 'Bala' was released and has since then, created quite a stir on social media. While fans are excited to see Ayushmann Khurrana in an all-new, bald avatar, they have also compared it to another film which is reportedly based on the same theme. Abhishek Pathak's 'Ujda Chaman' starring Sunny Singh is also based on the theme of a young man who faces premature balding and is unable to find a suitable girl for marriage.

Now ever since the trailers of the two films have released, fans have been comparing the two films which has made makers of 'Bala' prepone the film's release.

Earlier, ' Bala' was to release on November 22, but was preponed to 15th and then 8th and now its scheduled to release on November 7- a day ahead of 'Ujda Chaman'. The move has left the makers'Ujda Chaman' fuming and now they are reportedly planning to move the court.

Speaking to a daily, Abhishek Pathak said that his film is an official remake of 2017 Kannada film 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' and he had acquired the official rights for a remake.

"We acquired 'Ondu Motteya Kathe' in the last quarter of 2018, with a clear intention to release my version within a year. My team suggested November 8 for release and our campaign commenced. In contrast, the 'Bala' team has been changing their release date, from November 22 to November 15 to November 7, which is a day before my film. At least let it be a healthy competition. In this case, even their poster design is similar. We are discussing it with our legal team and will take action in a few days. This is a clear case of copyright violation. I can understand two films around a bald character releasing within a short span of time, but in this case, there are striking similarities with my film and the original whose rights are with me," said Pathak.
