Mahesh Babu wins Dadasaheb Phalke best actor award for role in ‘Bharat Ane Nenu'

Mahesh Babu earned the award for his film ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ in which he played the role of a visionary Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh who may not be a seasoned politician but has a plan for his state that can help the people. 

South star Mahesh Babu was awarded the best actor Dadasaheb Phalke Award (South) as it took place for the first time including films from the South Indian movie industries. The awards show was hosted in Hyderabad and saw the presence of various celebrities. 

Mahesh Babu earned the award for his film ‘Bharat Ane Nenu’ in which he played the role of a visionary Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh who may not be a seasoned politician but has a plan for his state that can help the people. 

Mahesh was absent from the ceremony as his wife, former actress Namrata Shirodkar collected the award. Mahesh is currently busy with shooting for upcoming movie ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru’. The movie is slated for Sankranti 2020 release. 

Mahesh was recently in the news as he was seen with family unveiling his Madame Tussauds wax statue. He is the second Telugu actor to get a wax figure at the Tussauds'. The first was Prabhas who got his own statue post the worldwide success of Baahubali franchise as the Indian film broke all previous records. 

In another news, Mahesh Babu declined the offer to star in Sandeep Vanga's next film 'Devil' which has now gone to Ranbir Kapoor as the filmmaker rides on the success of 'Kabir SIngh' that proved to be a major grosser of the year. A source was quoted in a report saying, “Sandeep Vanga was very keen to work with Mahesh Babu and Mahesh too was interested in working with Vanga. They met and Vanga narrated Devil to Mahesh Babu who found the subject too dark for his taste and for his audience’s taste.”
