Madonna criticised for commenting on George Floyd's death with a dance video of her son

Madonna's 'tribute' to George Floyd has not gone down well with people. The popstar joined millions across the world in condemning security guard George Floyd's murder.

Anger erupted on streets of various parts of America after video footage showed a police officer kneeling on Floyd's neck as he died. Since last week, protests have erupted in various cities with people demanding justice for Floyd's death and calling out the authorities for the racist attack.

On Thursday Madonna shared a two-minute clip of her son, David Banda, dancing to Michael Jackson's song 'They Don't Care About Us'.

"Brutal murder travels around the world my son David Dances to honor and pay tribute to George and His Family and all Acts of Racism and Discrimination that happen on a daily basis in America. #davidbanda #JusticeforGeorgeFloyd #MichaelJackson," Madonna wrote as caption.

The pop diva's post invited a lot of criticism with most calling the video insensitive and uncalled for.

"Nobody asked Madonna to weigh in today. Not a soul. Unforced errors among public figures have been rampant this month," wrote April Reign, the creator of the #OscarsSoWhite campaign.

TV writer Akilah Green added that the video was "worse than that Pepsi can," referring to an infamous 2017 commercial starring Kendall Jenner that had protested as a backdrop to promote the drink.
