As the world observes strict lockdown especially with the people in India staying indoors for over a month now, Yahoo India has now revealed a pattern of internet usage.

Facing anxiety and insecurity about the future, Yahoo India has now revealed coronavirus-related searches that rose by a whopping 427 per cent.

According to results, the top five COVID-19 related keywords were ‘Covid-19 updates’, ‘Symptoms of Covid-19’, ‘Covid-19 treatment’, ‘Covid-19 death toll’ and ‘live Covid-19 tracker.’

People also mass-searched for ‘lockdown in India,’ ‘vaccine for coronavirus,’ ‘social distancing’, and ‘Hydroxychloroquine for coronavirus’.

Among the most-searched celebrities of India, Priyanka Chopra topped the list followed by Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone. But these results changed as soon as singer Kanika Kapoor tested positive for Covid-19 on her return from London. Kanika Kapoor then became the most-searched celeb. She tested positive on several attempts and on her fifth and sixth attempt, she tested negative.

Post-lockdown, superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth topped the list of most searched male celebs.

During the shutdown, people are also seen looking for productivity tools while working from home, with video conferencing apps Zoom and Skype being the top two searches.

In entertainment, searches for 'Bigg Boss', 'Drive', 'Tanhaji', 'Housefull 4' and 'Good Newwz' were replaced by the old classic Ramayan that was re-telecast on Doordarshan. Hollywood film ‘Contagion’ was also a highly-searched film owing to its content -- that is eerily similar to what the world is facing right now.
