Story highlights

This marks the fourth failure in a row for the veteran actor.

In what is now his fourth failure at the box office, John Travolta starrer ‘The Fanatic’ bombed. Until last Friday, the film grossed a mere $3,153 from 52 theaters scattered across the US.

‘The Fanatic’ star Travolta as the obsessed fan of a movie star that failed to impress the critics as well as the viewers.

The film is directed by Fred Durst, who is best known as the frontman for Limp Bizkit. It is backed by the Quiver Distribution that got launched in May by former Lionsgate executive Jeff Sackman and Berry Meyerowitz.

The film is doing even worse than Travolta’s previous films like his ‘In a Valley of Violence’ (2016) and ‘Killing Season’ (2013).

‘In a Valley of Violence’, also starring Ethan Hawke, took in $29,343 from 33 theaters on its first weekend. It made $53,647 in total. While ‘Killing Season’ that co-starred Robert De Niro, finished its brief run in theaters with $53,646.

Travolta’s last hit was ‘Hairspray’ that released in 2007.
