Jennifer Aniston on motherhood: Maybe my purpose on this planet isn’t to procreate

It’s not easy being Jennifer Aniston. One of the most celebrated Hollywood stars, Aniston entered our lives (quite literally) when she starred as Rachel in one of the most popular American TV show ever made, Friends. Even though we all love her,

Aniston has time and again been subjected to scrutiny -- when her divorce went through with Brad Pitt, when she divorced Justin Theroux, for not becoming a mother and so on and so forth. 

Media has often framed her as crippled and heartbroken, rather than treating her as an adult woman who can deal with rubbish being thrown at her by life. In an interview with a US-based magazine, Aniston finally sets the record straight for all the people and media per se that has not thought before giving her a ‘damsel in distress’ label when she is anything but that!

Aniston without mincing words said, "The misconceptions are 'Jen can't keep a man,' and 'Jen refuses to have a baby because she's selfish and committed to her career.' Or that I’m sad and heartbroken," before adding, "First, with all due respect, I'm not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions." 

Aniston and Theroux were married for two years before the couple announced their divorce in a joint statement earlier this year. 

On the constant media glare and the added on pressure for becoming a mother, Aniston said, "No one knows what's going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don't know what I've been through medically or emotionally.”

She added, "There is a pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they're deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn't to procreate. Maybe I have other things I'm supposed to do?"

Yes, Aniston, that decision is absolutely yours and no one else’s. No one can make that decision for you. 

Meanwhile, on the work front, she will now take up the role of the first LGBT female president in a new film for streaming giant Netflix.
