One classic example of this is India’s latest viral sensation Ranu Mandol who shot to fame because of her sweet voice as she appeared on a TV show that happened to have ace music director Himesh Reshammiya as a judge.
Ranu’s life has changed ever since that clip of her singing went viral as people backed her and asked directors to cast her in a Bollywood song as a playback singer. We informed you that Himesh did give her a song and there were in fact videos of the two recording it in a studio.

For the uninitiated, Ranu used to sing for a living at the Kolkata railway station as a passerby recorded her crooning ‘Ek pyaar ka nagma hai’. The video then went viral with many comparing her voice to that of Lata Mangeshkar. An NGO then spotted her, gave her a makeover and brought her to a TV show Superstar Singer where she was finally heard by millions. The rest they is history!
