'Gully Boy' crosses Rs 50 crores at the box office in its opening weekend

Zoya Akhtar's latest 'Gully Boy' is off to a flying start. The film that stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles has earned Rs 51.15 crores. The film released on Thursday, 14th February, cashing on Valentine's Day. The film on its first day earned a Rs 19.40 crores making it Ranveer Singh's second biggest opening film after 'Simmba'. 

The film, which narartes the story of a rap artist from Dharavi, Mumbai, has been well received by critics and audiences alike. Read the film's review here.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the numbers of the film on Twitter on Sunday. "#GullyBoy catches speed... Crosses ₹ 50 cr... Metros excellent, driving the biz... Mass belt/Tier-2 cities improve... Day 4 [Sun] should be huge again... ₹ 70 cr+ *extended* weekend on cards... Thu 19.40 cr, Fri 13.10 cr, Sat 18.65 cr. Total: ₹ 51.15 cr. India biz."

Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film also features Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Vijay Varma, Vijay Raaz, Amruta Subhash and others.
