Story highlights

Previously scheduled for December 5, the award nominations were shifted because of memorial services for former President George H W Bush.

Grammy Awards nominations have now been shifted to December 7 instead of 5 because of scheduled memorial services for former President George H W Bush.

The 61st Grammy Awards nominations will have some categories announced before the rest. While some will be announced live on ‘CBS This Morning’ and on Apple Music at 8:30 a.m. ET, the Recording Academy™  will have others at 8:45 a.m. ET.

The nominations will be announced across all 84 categories.

Earlier this year, the Recording Academy announced several changes to the awards process. The biggest difference is in the number of nominations for the ‘General Field’ categories -- record of the year, album of the year, song of the year, and best new artist -- that will increase from five to eight.

This change is being done as:“(It)will better reflect the large number of entries in these categories and allow voters greater flexibility when selecting this year’s best recordings.”

Meanwhile, the Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles on February 10, 2019.
