'Game of Thrones': Will Cersei end up killing her brother Jaime Lannister in the final season?

With barely a few days left for the last season of one of the most popular TV series, ‘Game Of Thrones’ to air, fan theories around who will finally sit on the Iron Throne and who will survive till the end are picking up the pace. 

In a recent interview, Maisie Williams, who plays the role of Arya Stark, said that there will be a lot of deaths in the final season which means a lot of central characters will die, either fighting the Night King or by political influences. 

So, here is a theory about how Jaime Lannister will die and who will kill him. 

The previous season of ‘Game of Thrones’ has given us enough hints that point at the cause of Jaime's death by the person who loves him the most, his sister and lover Cersei Lannister. 

Cersei's character is portrayed as a scornful woman who is always scheming and has remained a strong candidate to sit on the Iron Throne. 

Now let's talk about the incidents that hinted at how Jamie will die.

In the first episode of the seventh seven, when Cersei was talking to Jamie while walking atop a map painted on the floor, she said, "You've been quiet since you came home. Are you angry with me?"

"No, not angry," Jamie replied. She then asked him, "Are you afraid of me?"

And Jamie shockingly asked, "Should I be?"

Cersei did not reply and started talking about Daenerys Targaryen, who had crossed the Narrow Sea and landed at the Dragonstone. While she sidestepped the question, we can’t ignore this point. 

In season seven when Jaime attacked Highgarden to kill Olenna Tyrell, who had made an alliance with Daenerys, his intention was to kill her and take the gold reserve to pay off the debts of Iron Bank. 

The conversation between Jaime and Olenna, however, took a very interesting turn and can be considered as one of the most important scenes of the season. 

Olenna, as she sat alone at a table wearing an-all black dress, told Jaime, "You love her [Cersei]." She further added, "You poor fool. She'll be the end of you." 

Also in the fifth episode, when Ser Bronn Of The Blackwater pulled Jaime out of the lake, he said "Listen to me, c**t. Till I get what I'm owed, a dragon doesn't get to kill you. You don't get to kill you. Only I get to kill you."

There is a possibility that Cersei might give Bronn whatever is owed, whether a sack of gold or a castle and ask Bronn to kill Jaime. 

But so far Bronn's personality has been clean but still, his character cannot be trusted. Remember when Tyrion Lannister asked him to be his champion in the trial by combat, a trial he was facing for killing Cersei's son Joffrey?

After learning that Cersei has appointed Gregor Clegane, aka Mountain, as her champion, Tyrion was desperate to search for someone to be his champion. Both Jaime and Bronn refused to fight. Jamie because he was unable to fight anymore, and Bronn refused to risk his equation with Cersei despite his friendship with Tyrion. 

Bronn told him that he is a man of money. He himself once said that "you pay me to kill people who bother you."

Tyrion even told him that "you and my sister deserve each other" as his alliance with Cersei was evident. 

When Oberyn Martell once asked him an unexpected question that how he became a knight from a sellsword, he replied, "Killed the right people I suppose". 

Remember when Bronn fixed Jaime and Tyrion's secret meeting? Cersei knew about it. She told Jaime, "Do you think anything of importance happens in this city without me knowing?" There is a possibility that Bronn is actually working for Cersei. 

Will Bronn kill Jaime?

Now finally, the third hint was in the last episode of season seven, when Jaime was making plans with other Lords in the courtyard of King's Landing for expedition north after Cersei agreed to march along Dany and Jon Snow to fight the Night King. 

Cersei, who was watching from the level one, interrupted and asked the other Lords to leave as she wanted to talk to Jaime alone. She said, "Expedition north? I always knew you were the stupidest Lannister. The Starks and Targaryens have united against us, and you want to fight alongside them? Are you a traitor or an idiot?"

She plotted with Euron Greyjoy, who fled to get the help from Essos. Furious Jaime said, "You plotted with Euron Greyjoy without telling me, the commander." In reply to that, Cersei accused him of plotting with the younger brother Tyrion Lannister and called his expedition north treason. 

She had already mentioned it once that he should never "betray" her. 

When Jamie was leaving, Cersei even nodded, in a way, gave instructions to her guard, the Mountain to kill Jaime. Mountain even unsheathed his sword. Jamie looked nervous but eventually left Cersei, and he left, he said, "I don't believe you."

The unusual relationship between Jaime and Cersei is one of the talking points of ‘Game Of Thrones’. While Jaime's behaviour has changed over the course of time, Cersei has remained the same, brutal and self-centred.

Earlier, Jaime always stood by her to fight the odds but the narrative of their relationship has changed. Difficult circumstances have changed Jaime's behaviour and his relationship with Cersei has already soured. 

The differences between them might lead to this deadly theory but what will finally happen will be interesting to watch.
