'Kargil Girl' first look: Janhvi Kapoor plays first woman Indian Air Force officer to go to war

'Kargil Girl' is based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, one of the first women Indian Air Force pilots to go to war. 

The first look of Janhvi Kapoor’s upcoming film is finally out as she plays the role of IAF officer, Gunjan Saxena. 

An official announcement of the film was made by the Dharma Productions on Wednesday with a picture of Gunjan as she steps gets ready to fly a helicopter. The post read: “We are proud to be telling the true story of Flight Lt. Gunjan Saxena, India's first Air Force woman officer who went to war - on the big screen. Stay tuned, first look coming up tomorrow morning!”

Earlier today, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the first look of Janhvi as Gunjan as the poster read: “Gunjan Saxena: Ladki Pilot Nahi Banti” while Janhvi is seen flying a paper plane.

The film is based on the life of Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena, one of the first women Indian Air Force pilots to go to war. 

Karan Johar also took to his social media account and shared another poster from the film that revealed the name of the film, 'Kargil Girl' and release date.

It is a joint production venture between Dharma Productions and Fox Star Studios, is directed by Sharan Sharma. The film has Pankaj Tripathi as father to Janhvi, Neena Gupta as her mother, Angad Bedi as her brother. Rajat Barmecha, Vijay Varma and Manu Rishi will be seen portraying important characters.

The film is slated to release on March 13, 2020.
