Rani Mukerji has started work on her next film ‘Mardaani 2’. 

‘Mardaani 2’ is the sequel to 2014 hit film ‘Mardaani’. She was seen playing the role of a lady cop named Shivani who busts a child trafficking racket. In the upcoming film, she will be seen as the Superintendent of Police who is locked in a battle with a 21-year old villain. 

The makers released the first look of Rani in her character. In the photo, she looks busy in a conversation with someone and looks fierce in the role. 

The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and marks the directorial debut of Gopi Puthran, writer of the first ‘Mardaani’ film. It will hit the screens this year.

Speaking to IANS during an earlier interaction, he said, "I’m just excited to be a part of this wonderful industry. Films and acting has been something I’ve always been interested in, glam isn’t what attracted me to this, my love for the craft and film did! I’m excited for the destination and the journey already excites me".
