Dia Mirza celebrates PM Modi's announcement to make India a plastic-free nation

Dia Mirza has been a dedicated change agent and voice for the environment in India and internationally for many years now. Her love for nature has motivated her to eliminate single-use plastic from her life completely and she has consistently used her influence to urge others to follow suit. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent announcement to make India single-use plastic-free is a historic move for the country and for the actress a huge push to a campaign she has appropriated for years now. 

The actress believes that this announcement will inspire number of people to live an ecologically-balanced life and to eliminate single-use plastic.

Modi’s speech this year highlighted that he aims to start a new revolution against single-use plastic from October 2 and celebrate Mahatma Gandhi's birthday in a unique way.

Dia Mirza who is not only an actor-producer but also associated with the UN as its Environment Goodwill Ambassador & UN Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals, she said, "Prime Minister Modi's speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort on 15th August is a clarion call for action and a tremendous follow up on his historic commitment to make India single-use plastics free by 2022.
