Confirmed! Vivek Oberoi to play Narendra Modi in biopic

This is officially the season of biopics and those on political leaders, no less. After ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ that is based on the life of former Indian PM Manmohan Singh that will release on January 11 this year, another has just been announced on the current PM Narendra Modi. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed that a biopic will be made on Modi and none other than Vivek Oberoi will play the lead role. Taran tweeted: “IT’S OFFICIAL... Vivekanand Oberoi [Vivek Oberoi] to star in Narendra Modi biopic, titled #PMNarendraModi... Directed by Omung Kumar... Produced by Sandip Ssingh... First look poster will be launched on 7 Jan 2019... Filming starts mid-Jan 2019.”

Director Omung Kumar confirmed the news. Omung has previously made biopics on Mary Kom and Sarbjit. He plans to take over the project on Modi ahead of the 2019 general elections. It is said that the veteran actor Paresh Rawal for roped in to play the role but he backed out owing to unknown reasons. 

This will be a comeback-of-sorts for Vivek who has been off the scene for a while now but who knew Vivek's full name was Vivek Anand Oberoi?

Among other details revealed, the shooting on the film will start from mid-January 2019. The first look poster will be launched on January 7.
